The leading edge of the rudders tapers from both front-to-back and top-to-bottom. Each was cut and sanded close to its final shape, but was left flat on the leading edge surface so that the 1/64" ply sheeting could be feathered into the final, rounded edge. Wedges of balsa were added to fill the gaps where the control horns will be mounted. The rudders have no trailing edge material. The ply sheeting simply merges together. A narrow strip of fiberglass cloth will cover these edges before the overall surfaces are glassed. |
